2020 has been full of ups and downs, and we are not out of the woods yet. With all that has happened, we see glimpses of the human capacity for adaption. We have adapted to our current restrictions, and we stubbornly look for ways to continue living productive, healthy lives.
The Northville Athletix community is committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and while COVID has not made it easy, we have not let it get in our way.
In April, the stay-at-home orders forced us to closed the doors. That did not stop us. We immediately pivoted to home workouts, emptying every corner of the gym and taking what we could carry home to ensure that we continued to stay fit.
In June, the stay-at-home orders relaxed, letting small groups get together but only outside. We started with groups of 10 and soon jumped to groups of 20 in the south parking lot every day, 50 classes per week. It was an awesome sight to see.
Later in the summer, as the weather started to turn, we moved inside, keeping our distance, wearing masks, and using common sense. All along the way, we learned, adapted, and continued to work toward our fitness goals.
Thankfully we had no outbreaks of the virus connected to our facility. This is a testament to the diligence and consideration of the community.
Now, the second wave of COVID is hitting our area hard, and we must adapt again.
The State of Michigan Health Department guidelines states that group fitness classes are not allowed for at least the next three weeks.
In response, we shifted away from our traditional class format to an "open gym" model with individual training options. Members can now schedule a 90-minute training block throughout the day as space is available. Sign in to class here!
COVID considerations:
Northville Athletix has 10,000 square feet of space, divided up into three large rooms. (SAFE DISTANCING)
The gym has high ceilings and ample ventilation. (PLENTY OF FRESH AIR)
Northville Athletix has less than 150 members. (FEWER TOTAL PEOPLE EQUATES TO LESS POTENTIAL EXPOSURE WHEN COMPARED TO LARGE 24 HOURS GLOBO GYMS)
Very few employees. (FEWER EMPLOYEES IS LESS EXPOSED AS WELL)
Enhanced cleaning protocols, and everyone is required to wear a mask while in the building. (REDUCING RISK OF SPREAD)
All participants will be socially distanced and have their own 10x10 training area. (REDUCING INTERACTION AND RISK OF SPREAD)
While weather permits, we will also continue to accommodate outdoor workouts.
All of this makes Northville Athletix one of the safest and least exposed places to work out and train in Michigan.
Maintaining High-Quality Training Experience:
We will continue to program daily workouts.
Workouts are posted in the gym and online.
Coaches will be available to provide guidance and explanation.
Exercises will include options for all skill and ability levels.
